The Met Gala is a buzz generator each year in the fashion world. Guess what? 2022 is no different as the fashion statements were loud.
The event is often regarded as Fashion’s biggest night. It is a fundraising benefit for the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. The Gala is seen as the most prominent social event in the world.
Anna Wintour, New York Journalist and Editor in chief of Vogue has chaired the Met Gala since 1993. It is held every first Monday in the month of May.
In America: An Anthology of Fashion was the year’s theme. The official dress code was “Gilded Glamor”.
The official dress code refers to the gilded age, an era between 1870-1900. The gilded age featured immense economic growth, hypocrisy and inequality.
And Yes, long trains, and a whole lot of glamour weren’t lacking at the red carpet. Everyone came to make a mark.

She wore a Versace gown inspired by the Statue of Liberty. The gown transformed from bronze to blue-green train when her team undid the giant bow.
However, the train had constellations from Grand Central Station from the back. She wore matching gloves and a tiara like the statue of liberty.

The reality TV star made entrance with Pete Davidson. She wore Mariyn Munroe’s famous “Happy Birthday Mr President”. Not to mention the same one. Though she swapped it for a copy to stay in the dinner.

She wore a shimmering silver Ralph Lauren gown and a cape. And her cape displayed the skyline of the Empire State Building and Chyster Building New York City.
She walked the carpet with Swizz Beat, her must producer husband. She said of her look. “We really just wanted to bring New York to the gala. I love it.”

Yes, she glittered in a stunning ‘gilded glamour from the future’ outfit by Ralph Lauren.

She worked with Christopher Rogers. And he has this to say about the outfit: .”look this evening pays homage to Elizabeth Hobbs Keckley, who made history as the first Black female fashion designer in the White House. A former slave who moved from Virginia to D.C. in 1860, Keckley went on to become the official dressmaker to first lady Mary Todd Lincoln.

She definitely brought class and glamour with a purple gown by Iris Van Herpen. She also topped if off with an eye catching head piece.

The singer showed up in a blue green Gucci corset dress which is definitely a different side to her.

She wore an Alexander McQueen gown touches of beaded fringe and floral motifs coupled with beaded hair barrettes.

Teasa was on a pink corset gown by Carolina Herrera. Her gown has a gathered tulle not to mention that it is a 200metre train.

She’s the host of the vogue’s coverage of the Met Gala. And of course, she didn’t disappoint as she wore a see through Moschino.

Union wore a silver Atelier Versace dress. She however said her outfit honored the late actress Diahann Carroll, “a symbol of opulence and if you will, a gilded glamour.”
Chloe wore a structured, metallic and strapless gown. It however, recreated the exaggerated curves and hips of a corsert.

Lizzo’s coat took 22,000 hours to make while the rare gold flute she brought as an accessory costs #55,000. And her gown and coat was made by Thom Browne.

Gigi Hadid looked stunning in a red leather corset and matching skin-tight pants for the event that she teamed up with red knee-high boots.

Bella wore a skin-tight black leather corset by Burberry for the big event together with a skirt that had a high slit.
